This is a continuation of my quest for a decorated condo, and showing you how just a few little changes can make a world of a difference in your home.
Today is all about pillows. World market, like most places has a variety of pillows, with some of the pillows are at a value price, and that particular day, there was a sale of buy one, get one ½ price. You can easily get a pillow that is under $10, with the average pillow is around $30. There are some floor pillows and poufs that are priced around $34.00, but that is about it as far as pricing pillows are concerns.
As for decorating with pillows, look at it this way, I have three places where I can put pillows: the living room, my master bedroom, and my second bed/craft room. Here is my dilemma: On my couch in the living room, I have the colors burgundy, medium navy blue (it is not the true navy blue, but it is not a primary blue either), tan, black, green, red, a smiggy of orange-brown stripe (90’s couch, hey it was cute when I got it and the twin big chair). I really do not want to cover it so I need to find something that makes a person say, “New couch?” For my master bedroom, I currently have sage on my bed, but I am open, since the walls are white, no thanks to the landlord, but I can work with it. I do not need any pillows in the third room, since I will be turning it into a craft room.
The point is with pillows is find a dominant color and stick with it. In my couch’s case, I can always complement the pillows I have on the couch already, which are 2 big burgundy and 2 big dark green pillows, by putting maybe a lighter pillow to break up the flow. So find a lighter color for your couch or chair. As for my bed in my master bedroom, sage can work or even black, since I have black leaves on the duvet/comforter or I can go with a pillow that can match all three of the comforters I use throughout the year. The others are a burgundy print and a leopard print.
The conclusion is simply, whatever style or color your décor is, have your pillows complement not over power the décor of your couch or bed. Have fun choosing your style as you decorate in any season. Be blessed my friend.
